Want a Morpheus costume? Any Matrix fan immediately knows who Morpheus is – he’s definitely unique. Not only for his vision and his beliefs, but also for his own unique look and style.

Any male who is also a big fan of the Matrix series and a big fan of Lawrence Fishburne also could obviously  dress up in a Morpheus costume for Halloween.

I think that Lawrence Fishburne is a style icon for a lot of African-American males in their  40′s and it is natural that loads of guys would pick his character for their Halloween costume.

It could be a hard decision between dressing up as Morpheus the martial arts instructor or Morpheus the cool shooter but the cool shooter won out for now so let’s talk about that costume here.

So, here’s exactly what we’ll need to do to have the best Morpheus costume possible for Halloween this year. For starters, dressing up as Morpheus, you will need the following at a minimum: to wear a black, long sleeved shirt with a yellow tie. Now you can also wear a grey colored tie if you wish but the tie needs to be a plain, solid color with no designs of any kind on it. And don’t forget the dark pants either.

Next, you’ll have to purchase, or rent, a shiny, black trench coat. The perfect jacket is very important to the look, it needs to be crocodile or alligator looking skin, full length with medium wide lapels and a full cut.

Leather or vinyl are two other options to consider. As mentioned on another post on this site, renting is certainly a cheaper option that you can fall back on if you can’t buy the proper trench coat right off.

Now something that will really set you apart instantly are Morpheus’s black sunglasses. Remember, these have no temple arms (the things to fasten the shades behind your ears). So, you could buy a cheap pair of black shades (preferably rimless) and then break off the temple arms and fasten it onto your nose. You can also buy a plastic pair, so that they are much cheaper. Lastly, you can also go to a costume store and just ask for a pair of  “morpheus’s shades”. This is really a must have piece of any Morpheus costume.

Now let’s take a minute to talk about his hair. Remember, Morpheus doesn’t have any – he’s bald – so you’ll need to wear one of those bald wig things or shave your head to look the part. And what about shoes? For a perfect Morpheus costume you’ll need to wear black lace-up dress shoes but solid black sports shoes would work too if that’s all you had.

And for additional Morpheus costume accessories, you can also carry a plastic air gun with you or a toy gun that fits your costume. I would suggest two replicas of the automatic machine guns that Morpheus carries, probably from a costume store (since I don’t want to get arrested on Halloweeen lol).

Best of all, most of these Matrix costumes only require a few pieces of simple clothing, a few accessories and little to no external makeup of any sort which is really important since a lot of people just don’t want to paint up their faces or wear any kind of masks over their head.

So, use the tips above and create your best Morpheus costume ever, have fun at all your Halloween festivities, and just have a great time.  Alright, ready to step out… in the words of Morpheus himself “Your mind makes it real” – so, kick back, dress up and celebrate too.

My best friend could easily dress up as Seraph from the Matrix, because Seraph is our favorite Matrix character and mainly because my friend is Chinese. We both also think that my best friend could play the role quite well so he’s getting a Seraph costume this year. And I’ll go as one of the other Matrix characters!

To dress up in a Seraph costume for Halloween, he will go and get a pair of round black lens sunglasses, and get a hair cut to about the same length as the character in the movie. He then plans to go look for his attire in China town, because that is the only place that he knows he can go to get anything Chinese or Asian. But I also suggested that we look online too.

If it were me, I would look for a martial arts shop and buy. He should be able to get most of his costume from that place. It may not be of high quality but it should do for Halloween. Once I get to the store I would look for a white Chinese kung fu shirt similar to the one that the character wears in the movie, and then I would look for some black Kung Fu trousers to go with it as well and a maybe a white waist cloth to tie it together around the waist.

Then we will go look for some black slipper like shoes with dark soles. All of these should not cost too terribly much. I would then go get a black t-shirt from a cheaper shop to wear underneath the white kung fu shirt.

Next, I would then go look for two semi automatic pistols (unloaded of course). Of course he will not be stupid enough to try to get real fire arms – instead I would go online and look for some air soft or bb pellet guns or even toy guns if they were the right ones.

For a few additional extras for his Seraph costume I would also get two black semi automatic pistols (unloaded of course), which I would hide behind me, tucked away in his trousers with handles above the waist, so I can reach back and pull them out with ease.

However if you wanted a better costume, and you had the means, you could go to Hong Kong and get a tailored Chinese shirt, with the black cloth underneath, allowing you to wear it as a black shirt or a white shirt. I would also get the trousers tailored too, so that they will fit better, and the quality of the material would be higher too.

The second thing I would also get would be the shoes, which he wears which are white slipper like sandals, but black ones would work too. I would probably be able to find them somewhere in Hong Kong or maybe even online from a martial arts store.

The last item I would need to complete this Seraph costume is a large number of old keys, like Seraph had in the movie, where he opened the doors to the Oracle for Neo. After that we will have the complete get up for a truly perfect Seraph costume.

Ladies, want to dress in a Trinity costume? She is by far one of my favorite characters in the Matrix series of movies.

She definitely has it all too – brains, beauty and the ability to beat the living crap out of just about very guy on the block, hands down, when necessary!

Now, how to dress as Trinity? Let’s discuss that for a few minutes. First, for the perfect Trinity costume you’ll need a pair of black sunglasses – definitely an essential.

For the top, you can opt for any shiny body hugging, short sleeved or sleeveless shirt or even a full sleeved, dark jacket.

To complete Trinity’s signature look, the jacket must be black in color and must be very, very long and shiny in appearance – almost plastic looking. The shiny appearance not only makes you resemble the character of Trinity even more, but it also attracts loads of attention to your outstanding Trinity costume. You can also go for a shiny black trench coat and wear that buttoned up all the way as an option.

Trinity: “Let me tell you what I believe. I believe that Morpheus means more to me than he does to you. I believe if you are really serious about rescuing him, you are going to need my help. And since I am the ranking officer on this ship, if you don’t like it… I believe you can go to hell. Because you’re not going anywhere else. Tank, load us up.”

Now for pants. The pants have to be shiny again too. You can opt for leather pants, but that can be a more expensive option.

If that’s a major issue then I would suggest that you rent the Trinity costume from a costume store or buy a discounted costume from an online store – like you see here.

Tall black boots would also have to be a part of the perfect Trinity costume too. And a pair of black gloves could be worn too – but could be considered as optional.

And don’t forget your guns. Trinity was wonderful with any kind of weaponry. So if you were to add a pair of hand guns, all the better.

You really wouldn’t need a lot of makeup, if any, since Trinity was a less-is-more kind of girl and definitely didn’t take a lot of time doing that sort of thing. But the hair, now that’s another thing all together. You must get the hair right or you would just be some chick in a dark outfit – and not Trinity.

Trinity always has short black hair and often wears it slicked back. So you have a few ways to do this if you don’t already have the right hairdo. You can wear a short dark wig, or if you have short dark hair already make sure you add some hair gel and comb it back from your face. Perfect.

And there you go – now you’re Trinity. So go grab a few friends, put on your best Trinity costume and have your friends dress up as Neo or Morpheus or any of the others from the Matrix movies and have a fantastic and mind bending Halloween!

The most popular Matrix costumes are that of Neo, Trinity and Morpheus. It does not require much of an effort to dress like any of them but for now let me first start with a Neo costume.

You’ll need a black or grey colored t-shirt along with black jeans. All the clothes should be very plain in detail and have no kinds of over written designs, or no kind of checkered or striped patterns or anything of that sort.

You can wear a black colored belt around your waist. If you wish, you can also even fasten a belt with a gun holder and buy an air gun to keep in it.

“My name is… Neo!”

I don’t know if you’ve really thought about it or not but a nice dark pair of sunglasses are a must for the perfect Neo Costume. Find a pair of stylish sunglasses – a wraparound style would be absolutely the best. Shoe wise, you can wear your regular black sports shoes but black dress shoes would be an even better choice.

You also need to wear a long black jacket, similar to a long overcoat. A great and easy way to dress up as Neo from The Matrix would be to simply find a long black coat – leather would be great!  You can also go to any costume store and ask for the “Neo coat” or go into a clothes shop and ask for a “Trench coat”.

Do remember that trench coat’s are usually pretty expensive and instead of buying it from a store, you can even rent  it from a costume store for about one-tenth the price that you would purchase it for.

No facial makeup is really required as a part of your Neo Costume and in fact make sure that you are cleanly shaven too as Neo always was in the movie.

Hair wise, for both Trinity or Neo, you need to slick back your hair with gel, and pull it away from your face. And people with long hair should tie it back tightly so that it is not hang loose in any way.

And there you go! That’s all it takes to dress up in a nice, basic Neo Costume for Halloween.
